If the player is the target of the horror aspect, then at the very least he or she should be nervous when playing the game, not calm. And for a horror game its important to pick whether or not you want the setting to be nerve making for the characters or for the player. More important than graphic quality is the game itself, sound design and atmosphere. (and the wacky controls in some of them, causing a lack of perfect control actually helps with the horror aspect.) Yes, you do require graphics, but the quality of them doesn't matter much. Horror fans easily play indie games with PS1 graphics on itch.io for example. Horror games can be perfectly scary even with lower quality graphics. The detailed quality of a game's looks is one of the least important aspects of a game.
You can tell this certainly, because people are still buying Corpse Party and White Day 1. You don't need perfect or tracked animations, you don't need the best looks and highest detailed graphics to make a good game or to tell a good story in a game. The problem is that you're too focussed on the game's looks and too focussed on trying to make it look like a movie in each cutscene. I know why you decided to split the game up into episodes its because voice acting and hiring actors to track is expensive (as well as the equipment needed) Please look forward~ Thank you!
